OIL PAINTING FOUND AT THRIFT STORE
MARKHAM, IL - An unexpected find at a Markham UNIQUE thrift store. A man spent ten dollars, on an oil painting that could be worth tens of millions of dollars. On his way to his job, as a factory worker, a man decided to stop at a Unique thrift store, he frequently shopped at thrift stores hoping to find a treasure.
The man saw a painting of a little girl with a hat, sitting on a chair, and thought about putting it back on the self, but then he saw a label on the back that read DI SALVO, which made him a little curious, and the price was only ten dollars, so he decided to buy it.
He brought the painting home, placed it in a corner in his house, and forgot about it. A couple weeks later he was looking at the painting, and noticed that it had a faint signature, MCH. and he googled MCH and Marc Chagall came up in the results.
He then started comparing his painting, with the Marc Chagall images on Google, to see if his painting could have been done by the hands of Marc Chagall, and something told him that it was possible that he could have an original oil painting by Marc Chagall.
The man took the painting to a local appraiser, located downtown Chicago. MIR Appraisal Services, Director and Senior Appraiser Farhad Radfar had the painting for close to a year, and informed the man. Farhad never gave the man a definite answer as to rather the painting is authentic or not. Farhad said there is no way to be one hundred percent sure. Director and Senior Appraiser Farhad Radfar told the man to never get rid of the painting, because there is a possibility that the painting may be authentic.
The painting has a label on the back that says DI SALVO. DI SALVO was an Art Gallery located in New York from the late 1800's until about 1970. DI SALVO Galleries advertised that they sold authentic reproductions, and authentic original works of art.
